About

Welome to my site! My lifelong career in music has allowed me to take on numerous roles: composer, producer, sound engineer, cellist, pianist, and pedagogue. After graduating from Florida State University’s (FSU) College of Music in 2016,  with my masters degree in Music Theory and Composition, I was hired immediately at the FSU School of Dance, becoming their youngest Faculty member. I designed and taught courses in music production, rhythmic analysis, and music and choreography to undergraduate and graduate dance majors alike, while also working with world class choreographers and companies like the Martha Graham Company, the Twyla Tharpe Company, Suzan Farrell, and Gwen Welliver. In 2018 I moved with my husband to the central coast of California. Since then, my music has been performed at the Kennedy Center, on air through NPR’s central coast branch “KCBX 91.3”, and on film through various collaborations in Los Angeles. Explore this site to see how I can be a part of your next project, whether it is picking up a new instrument, working on a new film, TV show, or video game; or just to collaborate on music you are working on!

–In Media

A collection of my media or media-inspired-music. Also where I have uploaded my creative commons music. Video games, podcasts, and film cues all in one place! Peruse these free tracks to see if they might fit in your next production.

–On Stage

Whether it be an atmospheric sound sculpture, or just a good beat to follow, my music has been able to keep step with any style of stage work. Incidental theater music, works for live dance, spoken word, performance art; an environment of collaboration is where my creativity can really come alive! Featured is a recent work distributed through Panasonic, “Alive”, which I was fortunate to write alternate music for. Click the link to hear more of my work for the stage, including “Roses in December” which was recently premiered at the Kennedy Center Terrace Theater with the Bowen McCauley Dance Company.

–With A Score

My first love, and largest collection of music. Here you can explore the unique voice of my personal writing style. Commissions are now open!

Production

From TV shows to studio quality music production, I have the gear and ear to help take your recordings to the next level.

Sound Engineering

“Dial P for Pranks!” is a brand new Youtube series by Peacock Kids, following the hilarious pranks and exploits of the wise cracking Izzy. My role on this project was designing the various phone sounds and filters for the voices. An old wire phone for the mechanic, a nice quality cell phone for the lawyer, each character has a part of their story told simply by the sound of their voice.

Music Production

A side by side recording to showcase what a little bit of mixing and mastering can do for a track. This is “Tinfoil Hats”, a new single by my good friend and amazing folk/rocker "Pacing”. Check out her Bandcamp for more of her music. Like what you hear? Send me your tracks! I’m currently building up a portfolio of music production, and would love to work with you.

Teaching

I teach multiple instruments, genres, and special topics in music online to anyone from very early beginners to advanced students. Read a little bit more about the types of lessons I provide, then click the button below to schedule your lesson with me

Piano

Learn to read music as fast and accurately as the pros, exercise  both sides of the brain, and train your ear to hear and play any song you come across. My teachers at the instrument were conservatory trained in France, and I bring that rigor with me – but with a distinctly American twist! As I am also fluent in Jazz piano and popular music styles, we will be able to take the lessons learned from Classical music and apply them to any song you can imagine, treating these styles with equal importance to our Classical studies. Below is a sample of my playing from my original work “Beta Fragments”.

CEllo

The  sound of the cello is just one of the most beautiful sounds in the world, but is also quite the challenge! I started to play late enough in life where no one thought I would make a living off of it, and yet still found a career that has spanned the whole United States. I’ve even  been able to play in such famous performance halls as the Kennedy Center and Carnegie Hall. This unorthodox career path means I can offer students not only a high quality cello education, but have special tips and tricks on what skills a cellist needs to stand out quickly, what other styles of music a cello can play, and how to practice smart; cutting down the practice time into windows that are doable on your schedule! You can hear my playing below: a recording of a collaborative work for piano and cello “Roses in December” by composer-pianist Dan Smith and myself. This work was set to movement by Florida State University professor and guest artist for the Bowen McCauley Dance Company Ilana Goldman, and was premiered at the Terrace Theater, Kennedy Center, Washington DC in May of 2019.

Ukulele

Do you want to learn music but don’t have the space for a big, bulky instrument? Do you wish you could play that song you just heard, but don’t know where to start? Are you wishing you could just take an instrument anywhere and play? If you answered yes to any of these questions, the Ukulele is the perfect instrument for you! In Ukulele lessons, the focus will getting you on a fast track to playing your favorite songs. We will start with chords and strumming, building a repertoire of songs that you will be able to pull out of a hat, all before we start talking about the more advanced topics of music like note reading and music theory.

Music Composition. & SongWriting

For the students with a song in their heart, and no way to get it out! I have been composing longer than I have been playing any instrument, scribbling my first sounds as descriptive doodles on multi-colored construction paper. My passion for creating music has gotten me all the way through a graduate degree in Music Composition, landed me my first faculty teaching job at the Florida State University School of Dance, and brought me to the Kennedy Center (where I played my music as part of a dance performance). Let my expertise help you find your musical ‘voice’. Get advanced tips on how to write your music out as quickly  and efficiently as possible, and take a deep-dive into how jumbles of notes can be organized into something intensely meaningful. Below are two of my original works that demonstrate my different writing styles. On the left, a highly cerebral work for solo bass. On the right, a more pop-inspired tune about a highway in Florida.

Beta Fragments.png

Beta Fragments

Written in the Fall of 2015 for choreographer Rebecca Krumel. The work is a serial treatment of a minimal melodic motive presented in the first bar. The original choreography had the dancers track specific movement pathways (vertical, horizontal, and spiral only) and reconcile these paths with obstacles placed on the stage. The music reflects this poverty of pathways and limitless deployment thereof. Listen to my concert premiere of the work below (myself on piano).

The Long Summer.png

The Long Summer

First premiered April, 2014. A duet in three movements modeled on haiku poetry. Each movement is about 3 minutes long. Listen to the premier recording from my senior recital. Breana Gilcher on Oboe, and myself on cello. Check out Breana's website here!

A Single Flower Blooming.png

A Single Flower Blooming

First premiered in February, 2016. The work's form is one of transfiguration of the initial melody (played by the Bassoon). Various interjections of angular gestures are gradually stripped away to reveal the tonality at the root of the work. Check out the premier recording by the "Force Majeure" Quintet
